No task too big for the Xcel Project
The Reflect Project was set up by Xcel alongside Towy Community Church and Bethel Church as a chance for young adults and kids to help families and individuals in need with DIY jobs around their homes and gardens. Reflect received 20 applications from local organisations who were asked to nominate people who they thought could benefit from some help around their homes.
Throughout the week long project the 30 volunteers were split into groups and sent to work digging up gardens, painting living rooms and clearing out sheds. Some of the people visited had been through life altering illnesses or had found themselves in financial or personal crisis meaning areas of their lives had become too difficult to manage.
The teams worked tirelessly over the week to complete some of the massive tasks despite some pretty horrible weather conditions on a couple of the days but the transformations have been amazing. The Xcel Project sees a number of people through its doors every week to use its valuable services such as Carmarthen Foodbank and Xcel Recycled Furniture and during these visits we get to learn about other areas of their lives where help is much needed which is why the Reflect project was set up and something we hope to run on an annual basis.
A big thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped with the project and to the support of local companies such as LBS Builders and Carmarthen Decorating Supplies who all made this week possible.
